WHATS UPF?

Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) is a rating system used for apparel.It was developed by the Australian Government. to indicates how effectively fabrics shield skin from ultraviolet (UV) rays.  The higher the UPF the higher the protection from UV rays.

This tag shows that the fabrics in the swimsuit has been tested to the Australian/New Zealand standard for sun protective clothing AS/NZS 4399 and given an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) 50+ rating.

 

The sun protective clothing standard, AS 4399, has requirements for body coverage. The brand owners should ensure that the products comply with these requirements before labelling with ARPANSA UPF tags.
